It’s almost summer and while everyone is planning their vacations, we are working to make CatalogIt more efficient and enjoyable for you! We are happy to announce the release of our new Periodical Profile, perfect for archives and collections that contain magazines, academic journals, newsletters, yearbooks, or any other series publication.
You asked and we listened: you now can print labels directly from CatalogIt. Our enhanced “Print Label” feature in the Actions Menu now includes a set of commonly used commercial labels, such as Avery Labels, or options to input your own specific custom label dimensions. From any Folder or individual Entry, click on your Actions Menu (the three dots in the upper right), go to Print, then Labels and take a look!

Finding ways to streamline our workflow and create efficiencies in our projects is key to our success and sanity as collections professionals. One way to save time is the use of QR Codes to help us quickly and easily navigate our database and access collections data. CatalogIt offers countless ways to create efficiency by utilizing QR Codes. Our newest MasterIt article, Creating Efficiencies with QR Codes, offers examples you can use at your institution to streamline your work.

Located in the community of Capreol in Greater Sudbury, Ontario, Canada is the Northern Ontario Railroad Museum and Heritage Centre. Established in 1993, the Museum and Heritage Centre is a rail transport museum that pays tribute to the region’s rich lumber, mining, and railroading heritage.
The Museum, located in an historic house built in 1916, contains Northern Ontario railroad memorabilia from 1890-1990—a record of the railroad's impact on early settlements of the area. In 2012, the Museum also acquired the former Capreol fire hall to establish its Heritage Centre which showcases exhibits that reflect on the region’s social heritage and the early history of the town.
The Northern Ontario Railroad Museum and Heritage Centre just re-opened for the season, so check out their admissions information on their website. To explore their online collections — a whopping 15,000+ Entries — from anywhere, anytime, browse their CatalogIt Hub page!
