We’ve recently added the ability for collaboration within an account. The account owner can give access to a set number of additional users, each with their own email address and password, and can determine whether the user can make changes or just view. For the private collector, this could allow a spouse or child to also have access; for the museum or organization, it allows for multiple people to be working in the account simultaneously, with CatalogIt automatically tracking who created entries and who edited them. Museum docents can now easily access their museum’s entire database to answer visitor questions.
We’ve also created a feature allowing for access to multiple accounts- for example, if you are a volunteer at a museum but also have your own collection in CatalogIt, you can easily move from one account to the other without having to log out. If you are a CatalogIt user as a part of a museum or an organization and would like your own personal account, or if you are an individual and would like to allow another person to access your account, please drop us a note at support@catalogit.me and we will get it set up! Soon the account owner will have complete control of this function.
We’d also like to bring to your attention a new online program created by the California Association of Museums (CAM) and the John F. Kennedy University (JFKU). CAM and the JFKU Museum Studies Department recently announced a formal partnership to support a new online Museum Studies Fundamentals Program beginning in April. The program is designed for individuals new or transitioning to working in the museum field; each course includes 12 hours of content with online learning modules to be completed at your own pace.
The Continuing Education Series includes: Museums 101, Strategic Thinking & Planning, Collections Management Basics, The Visitor Experience, and Fundraising & Marketing. Courses will provide online learning modules with lectures, student-instructor discussion boards, readings, reflection and written assignments with instructor and peer-to-peer feedback.
If you are interested you can find more information on the program here. While we are fans of CAM and JFKU, CatalogIt is not affiliated with either of them.
Thank you for your continued support!
