News and Updates

February 2024

We are pleased to present you with the latest edition of the CatalogIt Newsletter where we share information on new features, important updates, and other news. We hope you find it useful and informative.

Note! If you do not wish to receive our newsletters click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of this Newsletter.

Updated Design

‍

We're excited to introduce a revamped newsletter design! Optimized for both mobile and desktop, it features a multi-column format and increased visuals to aid in browsing.

Our Newsletters serve as curated roundups of new product enhancements and helpful insights, aiming to update and bring value to our users. We want them to be informative as well as easy to browse so please share your thoughts and help us improve the value of our newsletters.

New Classifications

‍

We have two new classifications to tell you about:

Glassware: Track the types, techniques of manufacture, patterns, and other details of your glassware. Glassware is a subclass of Object/Artifact.

Letter: Document the senders and receivers, and fully transcribe the contents of your letters. Letter is a subclass of Archive.

If your collection includes these items, give them a try!

New Features

Profile Search

We are happy to announce that you can now search Profiles using full-text and structured search. The interface and how it works is the same as it is for Entries, so what you know about searching your Entries now applies to searching your Profiles.

The previous Profile search was essentially a filter against the "Name" and "Also Known As" properties. The new search looks at all the fields and also supports boolean-based structured queries for precise lookups. The behavior is slightly different with this new search- to get similar filter results as before using full-text search, you might want to use the wildcard (*) modifier in your search string. Take a look here on our Support Site for tips on using the Search features.

Full-Text Search

We recently made a “behavioral” change to full-text search involving multiple words. Previously, any documents containing any of the searched for words matched (the words were “OR”ed together). The new behavior is to only match documents that contain all of the words (the words are “AND”ed together). We believe this default behavior results in more accurate and less noisy results. You can still “OR” the words together by separating them with the vertical bar (|) character; for example, “2023.9.1 | 2023.9.2 | 2023.9.3”.

User Status

We have added two important new columns to the Settings->Users page: MFA Status and Last Accessed.

The “MFA Status” column allows for easy verification of whether or not your team members have enabled multi-factor authentication, while the “Last Accessed” column provides insights into user activity. We hope these new columns will better help you manage security and access. It is important for Account Owners to periodically review their users!

Pricing Change

After several years without a change in price, we will be adjusting the subscription costs for many products and plans effective July 1, 2024. These changes reflect our commitment to sustaining the high service standards, security, and flexibility for which CatalogIt is known. We are committed to providing a reliable and robust service and continually enhancing the value we provide.

Security

Security is a top priority for CatalogIt. You rely on us to keep our infrastructure secure, robust, and available, and we take that responsibility very seriously. Security is something that we work on continuously and not just something that we check from time to time.

Strong security is also a partnership with you. We require your login to use a strong password but CatalogIt also supports optional multi-factor authentication which you can access from the Settings page. Multi-factor authentication is an excellent way to add an extra layer of security to your login. We strongly encourage you to enable multi-factor authentication.

Have a great Winter!
