News and Updates

April 2025

Spring is here, and with it are some exciting updates from CatalogIt! We’ve rolled out various new features to make collections management even more efficient, including Folder Groups for streamlined organization, and a refreshed Primary Entry UI for those of you publishing to the web. Additionally, we’ve launched a CatalogIt Users Group on Facebook, we’re sharing a new MasterIt on storage best practices, and spotlighting how the Trimontium Museum empowers its volunteers with CatalogIt. Read on for all the details!

New Features

‍

Folder Groups

Our recently released Folder Groups feature lets you organize your Folders into groups.

Planning a music exhibition? Create separate folders for Jazz, Blues, and Motown, then group them in a Folder Group to keep them organized and reduce Main Menu clutter. Users with Owner or Admin level access can create Folder Groups—learn how in this step-by-step guide.

‍

New Support Site

We’re getting ready to launch a new support site designed to make finding answers faster and easier! With improved content organization and AI-powered search and chat functions, you’ll be able to quickly get the help you need, browse through our support topics, and discover helpful tips and tutorials all in one place. Here is a sneak peek at what’s to come:

‍

Primary Entry UI

It’s now easier than ever to set a Primary Entry image!

From the Edit Folder page, simply select the “Change Primary Entry” button to choose the image to be displayed in your CatalogIt HUB page.

‍

URL Slugs

A URL slug is used in web publishing and is a part of the URL that identifies a specific page or post. It's essentially the "name" of the Account, Folder, or Entry in the URL, making it human-readable, descriptive, and better for SEO. URL slugs will replace the CatalogIt internal identifier that is currently part of a published URL.

You can set the URL slug for Folders and your Account in the Edit Folder and Account Profile pages, respectively.
