Coin & Banknote

Classification Outreach and Early Access

We are looking for people that are very knowledgeable in coins and banknotes. Specifically, we’re seeking input on the kind of information that would be appropriate for cataloging coins and banknotes.

CatalogIt is a collections management app used by private collectors, museums, organizations, conservators, and more. The app is built to flexibly accommodate diverse “classifications” authoritatively built for specific domains. We are not always experts in all of these domains and therefore desire to work with individuals who are so that what we build is appropriate, meaningful, and delivers real value. If you are interested in helping out, please contact us.

Here’s a short YouTube video that shows our Coin and Banknote classifications as they currently exist.

Specific areas we’re looking for research and input on include:

  • Completeness of the classification
  • Labels we’ve used for the various fields
  • Data we’ve provided in the pertinent Profiles (the dropdown fields)
  • Ordering and grouping of properties into the expansion panels
  • Anything else you feel we are missing or is important to capture

Generally, does this classification resonate with you as a collector of coins and banknotes, does it “speak your language,” and would it satisfy your needs if you were to use such an app to document and catalog these kinds of objects?

Also, do you subscribe to any coin and banknote online or printed publications? If so, which? What coin and banknote social media groups do you belong to or follow? This information will help inform us on how best to launch this new classification.

Thanks for your consideration.
